Common Questions about Sectional Garage Doors.
A: A sectional garage door is made up of rigid panels hinged together. It opens vertically and then slides horizontally along the ceiling on tracks, with spring counter-balancing. This design is very space-efficient and allows you to park close to the door inside and outside without obstruction. Sectional Doors are mostly installed with an automatic opener for ease of use.
A: Sectional doors are strong, weather-resistant, and versatile. They seal well against wind and rain (a pliable bottom seal keeps out leaves, dust, and water). They can also be insulated for a warmer, quieter garage. Plus, they come in a wide range of styles, with many colors and patterns available to complement your home's look. Their sturdy panel construction gives them high inherent strength (with extra bracing for wide doors), which is great for security and durability.
A: Yes. Garador offers factory-fitted insulation as an option on our popular sectional door designs. The insulation is a sophisticated locally-made polyester that improves thermal efficiency and noise reduction. An insulated door helps keep your garage warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and even muffles noise (great if you use the garage for projects or band practice). It’s an excellent choice if your garage is attached to the house or you spend a lot of time in that space.
A: All Garador sectional doors are made-to-measure for your opening. So we can cater to virtually any standard or custom garage size. You can choose from a variety of designs – from classic raised patterns to contemporary flat panels – and a wide palette of Colorsteel® shades (as well as powdercoat options) to match your home. We even have window options for adding natural light. Your local Garador dealer will help you select the style, finish, and features that suit your needs and aesthetic preferences.
A: Very little. Garador doors are designed to be low-maintenance.
Basic upkeep involves periodically cleaning the door surface and checking moving parts. We recommend that you have your sectional door professionally serviced once within the first 12 months after installation and then every two years after that – much like regular car servicing – to ensure safe and reliable operation for years to come. In addition, manually operating the door (after disengaging the opener) every few months is a good way to confirm it moves freely and to spot if springs or tracks might need adjustment. Lubricating the hinges, springs, and tracks twice a year is usually sufficient to keep everything running smoothly. Garador’s materials, such as durable Colorsteel® panels and quality hardware, are built to withstand the NZ climate, so with simple care and regular servicing your door will last for many years. And remember, your door is backed by a warranty for extra peace of mind.
